New Year, New You? Small Changes That Can Yield Big Results in 2023

New Year, New You? Small Changes That Can Yield Big Results in 2023

Let’s be honest: The last two years have been hard! As we head into 2023, we feel that familiar urge to change things up, get rid of what’s no longer serving us and start fresh with new habits. But this year, what if we took a slightly different approach to that “new year, new you” theme? What if instead of adding to our lives and daily routines, we found ways to bring in more ease and rest? Given all the uncertainties that surround us, who wouldn’t want less stress, more rest and less effort?

Here are our favorite “new year, new you” habits to help you live a better life (with more ease and less stress) in 2023.

1. Practice saying no.

How often do you say “yes” to events, tasks and people, only to regret your answer because it’s not what you really wanted to say? This year, give yourself permission to say “no.” If that feels like too big of a leap, pause and consider before committing. Responses like “let me get back to you” or “I need to check our family calendar first” help you defer your decision if it feels too bold to decline someone in the moment.

Saying “no” to someone else can mean saying “yes” to yourself (or your family).

2. Rest more.

Sleep is not an overdraft account you can draw from when you feel there aren’t enough hours in the day. It’s a valuable, non-negotiable part of your daily routine. In 2022, if there is one thing you focus on for a “new year, new you” habit, let it be sleep. With regular healthy rest, you can give yourself the energy you need to conquer everything on your to-do list. We’ll never have more than 24 hours in a day, but when we get enough rest, we can feel better prepared to manage our time and daily routines.

Need some help prioritizing rest? Hello Dreams™ Sleep Strips with Melatonin and Calm Down™ herbal blend are formulated to help you fall asleep, stay asleep or fall back to sleep and wake up rejuvenated.* You take them five to 10 minutes before you want to drift off, and you don’t need any water (so you can take them after you’ve climbed into bed), making it easier to get a good night’s sleep tonight — so you’re ready to face tomorrow!*

3. Be gentle with yourself.

Thanks to another restless night, you oversleep and miss the bus. You forget to buy coffee filters, so you have to face the day uncaffeinated. You double-book yourself the day it’s your turn to be room parent. These things happen — we’re all human! But how do you respond to yourself when they happen to you? If you struggle to speak kindly to yourself (the way you would to a friend or your little ones), it’s time to reset your self-talk. If you wouldn’t say it to someone else, you shouldn’t say it to yourself. This “new year, new you” habit will serve you for the rest of your life.

4. Do more with less.

Multitasking isn’t always a good thing. In our daily life, trying to take on too much at once can impact focus, attention and performance. Instead of forcing your brain to multitask, make your activities and products pull double-duty instead. This can be as simple as choosing a moisturizer that combines SPF with a serum or going to a yoga class that includes a strong flow and some restorative poses. And in the morning? Choose a coffee that can help you fight fatigue with more than just caffeine.

Each convenient pod of Good Morning Sunshine™ Coffee + Adaptogens combines smooth, delicious Fair Trade coffee with organic red ginseng extract. You get the caffeine you crave to help you get up and go, and the adaptogenic (stress-management) benefits of ginseng in every cup.* Plus, it’s ready at the touch of a button.

5. Find joy.

Your “new year, new you” habits don’t always (or ever!) have to be about self-improvement. You can do something simply because it brings you joy — not to turn into a side hustle, to share on TikTok or for any other reason than you want to. Practicing Chinese calligraphy, learning classic Britney Spears dances, painting watercolors of your dog, buying plants or reading romance novels. Don’t worry about what other people think. You don’t need a reason to do these things if they make you happy!

We wish you a happy and productive 2023, full of better tomorrows and good nights!
